Nope..
DVB is SD and DVB-S2 is for HD..
Although of course DVB-S2 can also carry SD Programming too..
Just Like an Analog TV cannot see Digital Signals..

DVB-S are DVB-S2 are television standards both SD and HD tv signal can be sent through this standards.
An example of a DVB-S only satellite receiver that also was HD is the Coolsat 8100 it also has a ATSC tuner. There was another dvb-s only and HD it was the Captain.
There is HD signals out there that are DVB-S. I think the Pentagon channel on 101w is.
All DVB-S2 receivers compliant are SD/HD capable, not all DVB-S are HD capable most of them are SD only.
