Information on using your receiver to get sky mexico

    C/P EHG

In order to get sky mexico using your receiver you must be able to lock in

    Intelsat 21 @ 58w

I have read numerous posts by members stating that their receiver do not show the above satellite or list sky mexico as a satellite option in their antenna setup. This post is meant to address that problem and explain how to get around it.

Intelsat 21 was launched only 1 year ago in august of 2012. Intelsat 21 replaced intelsat 9 at 58w and sky mexico is now on intelsat 21.

Almost all of you have boxes that are over 1 year old. There was no intelsat 21 when your box was manufactured, therefore it will not be in your satellite list. Most likely you will show intellsat 9 or pas9 in your satellite list.

The name of the satellite that you show at 58w is not important - it is just a name -

You can even setup sky mexico on any unused satellite in your list even if it is not listed at 58w e.G. Intelsat 707 at 53w, intelsat 805 at 55.5w or even amazonas at 61w

What is important is that whatever satellite you choose you must edit the transponder list so that it contains the current mexico beam transponders that are listed for sky mexico on intelsat 21.

List of Mexico Beam Transponders for SKY MEXICO

    POLARIZATION HORIZONTAL=L VERTICAL=R

Almost all receivers have the ability to add and/or edit the list of transponders for each satellite. So whatever satellite you choose, just delete the transponders that are not listed in the sticky post of Mexico beam transponders and than add the Mexico beam tp's or edit the current list of transponders so that the data for those transponders matches the ones listed in the sticky post for intelsat 21.

On intelsat 21 there are c-band western hemi transponders and ku band mobility beam, brazil beam and Mexico beam transponders. Sky Mexico uses the ku band Mexico beam transponders to transmit its programming and those are the only tp's that are in the sticky post for sky Mexico tp's. Regardless of the satellite you choose to use or how you do it that satellite must end up with the current Mexico beam transponders listed in the sticky post.

Once you have those transponders edited in to whatever satellite you have chosen, it is time to verify that your antenna setup has all the correct information such as lnb freq - diseqc switch port if you are using that switch - lnb type - and any other settings that are required.

Now it is time to aim your dish with its ku band linear lnb to 58w and tweek it in until you are getting a good signal both in strength and quality from the Mexico beam transponders. You can use dishpointer.Com to get the settings for your location. Don't forget that it might require the skew setting in order to lock in the satellite.

Once the dish is pointed at intelsat 21 at 58w your box should indicate regardless of the name of the satellite you have chosen that you are locking in

With intelsat 21 locked in it is time to do an auto scan of the sat and your box should scan in the sky Mexico channels and save them the same as you have done with dn numerous times - keep in mind that much depends on your location = dish size and possibly even the quality of your lnb. If you are on the outer perimeter of the footprint for sky Mexico you may get the channels from the transponders that have the strongest signal and not be able to get the channels off some of them that have a weaker signal.

Now that you have scanned in the sky Mexico channels, if you have the correct setup in your receiver for sky Mexico which is the server at: S1.IKS66.TV using the port of: 60066 and of course your access code as your user name and password along with whatever else your receiver requires in the setup for IKS66 than you should be able to tune in and receive the channels on sky Mexico.

Most receivers that work for dn using IKS66 should work for sky mexico - no guarantee on that the keyword is "most" receivers
