Neosat iPro2000 - step by step set-up guide

    STEP BY STEP GUIDE
    NEOSAT IPRO 2000/2000
by ehg - last revised on MARCH 27, 2013

The STEP by STEP instructions in this guide explain in detail how to prepare your Neosat Ipro 2000 (+) for the newcamd protocol and how to edit and install the software which will enable your Ipro 2000 to connect to your IKS provider.

NOTE: IF YOU HAVE A NEOSAT PRO 2000 WITHOUT THE "I" AS IN "IPro" (THE PRO 2000 DOES NOT HAVE A BUILD IN NETWORK CARD AND WAS MARKETED WITH AN OPTIONAL DONGLE) UNFORTUNATELY THIS RECEIVER/DONGLE COMBINATION WILL NOT WORK WITH THIS PROVIDER.
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    IMPORTANT! READ BEFORE PRECEEDING FURTHER
TO PREVENT POSSIBLE DAMAGE TO YOUR Ipro 2000, SWITCHES OR LNB's

    ALWAYS
WHEN ATTACHING OR REMOVING CABLES TO/FROM YOUR RECEIVER ALWAYS TURN THE RECEIVER OFF USING THE REAR SWITCH AND UNPLUG IT.
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

STEP 1. INSTALLING THE NEWCAMD PROTOCOL

NOTE: If your Ipro has up_430.hzf loaded SKIP STEP 1 and proceed to STEP 2. SETTING UP YOUR IPRO FOR NFPS

    A. Your Ipro 2000 must have the bin file up_430.hzf loaded. This file installs the Newcamd Protocol

    1. Download and extract the Ipro 2000 bin file up_430.hzf from here:

    up_430.ZIP

    2. Format a USB Memory Stick using the FAT32 file system.

    3. Copy the up_430.hzf bin file to your clean (no files on it) FAT32 formatted memory stick.

    4. Safely remove the USB stick with the up_430.hzf bin file from your PC.

    B. Preparing your Ipro 2000 and installing the Newcamd Protocol using up_430.hzf.

    1. Ipro 2000 Remote > Menu > Installation > Factory Default > OK

    2. REBOOT your Ipro 2000 using the Rear Power switch.

    3. Insert the USB Stick with the bin file up_430.hzf into the rear USB port of your Ipro 2000.

    4. Ipro 2000 Remote > Menu > Installation > Upgrade by USB Do not interrupt the process. When your Ipro 2000 has updated the bin file it will automatically reboot.

    5. Safely remove the USB stick from your Ipro 2000 using your Remote
Menu > STB SETUP > USB SETUP > REMOVE USB DEVICE SAFELY (HIGHLIGHTED) > OK

STEP 2. SETTING UP YOUR IPRO FOR NFPS

    A. Setup your Ipro 2000 to connect to the NFPS server using the NEWCAMD PROTOCOL.

    1. Ipro 2000 REMOTE Menu > Installation > Antenna Setup - With GREEN BARS for both SIGNAL STRENGTH AND QUALITY do an AUTO SCAN of your satellites e.g. 110w and 119w, include 118.8w for internationals if your dish is setup for that Satellite. SAVE your channels and exit.

    2. Ipro 2000 REMOTE > Menu > Installation > Installation Wizard - Set the language and time only and skip any other settings by using the yellow "next" button on your remote and then the blue "done" button. exit.

    3. Ipro 2000 REMOTE > Menu > STB Setup > Network Setup - Set it to DHCP.exit.

    4. Ipro 2000 REMOTE > Hidden Compartment > f3 key > Current Key Info Window will be displayed - set both Autorolls to OFF and the IKS MODE TO NONE.exit.

Your Neosat Ipro 2000 is now ready for the newcamd.conf file

STEP 3. EDITING AND SAVING THE NEWCAMD.CONF FILE

Download and Edit the newcamd.conf file. The following instructions must be followed EXACTLY. If you skip a step or deviate from these instructions the newcamd protocol will fail and you will not be able to connect to the nfps server using your Ipro 2000.

    1. Download and unzip the Ipro 2000 newcamd.conf file from here:

    newcamd_rev_05-29-13.zip

    2. Open the newcamd.conf file in NOTEPAD with the WINDOW MAXIMIZED click on > File > Open and you will see the Open File Dialogue box (SEE FIGURE A) In order to view the newcamd.conf file so that you can open and edit it go to the drop down menu in "Files of type" and select "All Files" or you will not see this .conf file as Notepad automatically defaults to .txt files. Select and open the newcamd.conf file that you downloaded.

    3. EDIT the newcamd.conf file. With the newcamd.conf file open in Notepad with the WINDOW MAXIMIZED the newcamd or CWS line will appear on a single line. Due to forum width limitations the CWS line may appear on two lines in this guide. EDIT the newcamd.conf file using the following instructions. Be very careful when you edit this file. Do not inadvertently add a space between fields or remove any as that will cause the file to fail.

    A. SERVER # The SERVERS HAVE RECENTLY CHANGED. TO DETERMINE WHICH SERVER YOU ARE TO USE GO TO THE HOME PAGE AND VIEW THE SERVER/PORT STATUS WINDOW. USE THE PORT # YOU WERE INSTRUCTED TO USE WHEN YOU RECEIVED YOUR ACCESS CODE TO DETERMINE WHICH SERVER NUMBER YOU ARE TO USE. SERVER NUMBER MEANING THE # JUST BEFORE .nfpsserver.tv Replace the # of #.nfpsserver.tv with the correct server number that matches your port from the server status window.

    B. PORT # - With your access code you were also provided a port number. Replace the ##### with the Port Number you received with your access code.

    C. YOUR ACCESS CODE - Next where you see youraccesscode youraccesscode replace each one of these with the 12 TO 14 digit access code that you received from nfps. Do not remove the space between the two insertions of your access code.

    D. IMPORTANT! VERIFY THE INVISIBLE END OF FILE CHARACTER. At the end of the CWS line there is an invisible end of file character that must be there if the Ipro is to read this file. Before saving this file you should verify the "EOF" character by placing your cursor immediately after the last character in the CWS line which is the "v" of cardserv. Next hit the RIGHT ---> ARROW on your keyboard once and the cursor should drop down to the left hand position of the next line. If it fails to do so then with the cursor immediately after the "v" hit the RETURN key on your keyboard once and the cursor will then drop down to the next line.

The following is an EXAMPLE of the CWS line of the newcamd.conf file. Your edited file should look exactly like the sample below except in NOTEPAD with the WINDOW MAXIMIZED it will appear on a single line. You will have replaced the # of #.nfpsserver.tv with the correct server number that matches your port assignment, youraccesscode will have been replaced twice with your actual 12 - 14 digit access code and the ##### will have been replaced with the port # you were instructed to use.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    4. SAVING the newcamd.conf file. In order to save the newcamd.conf file with the proper name and format you must follow the next instructions EXACTLY. ANY DEVIATION from the following will cause the NEWCAMD PROTOCOL TO FAIL!

    A. After editing the newcamd.conf file in NOTEPAD CLICK on FILE > Save as... the SAVE AS dialogue box will appear. (SEE FIGURE B) You can select where you wish the file saved by using the "save in" drop down menu at the top of this box.

    B. The Save as dialogue box has three more drop down menu's which must contain the following information AS SHOWN IN FIGURE B ABOVE in order to save the file correctly.

    a. File name: newcamd.conf

    b. Save as type: All Files

    c. Encoding: ANSI

    d. Click on SAVE

STEP 4. INSTALLING THE NEWCAMD.CONF FILE AND WATCHING TV
Follow these simple steps as written and you will be watching TV in a few moments.

    1. On a clean (no files on it) USB stick that is formatted to FAT32 copy and paste or drag and drop the newcamd.conf file that you just edited and safely remove the USB stick from your PC.

    2. With your Neosat Ipro2000 turned on insert the USB stick into the USB port on the back of your Ipro and it should blink a few times.

    3. Open the hidden compartment of your remote and push the f1 button to bring up the Newcamd protocol window. You should see 5 lines all blank and one highlighted in green.

    4. Push the RED BUTTON on your remote to read the newcamd.conf file from the USB stick and then click on ok when you get the read config message box.

    5. You should instantly see information from your newcamd.conf file listed on the top line of the Newcamd protocol window. Now push the GREEN BUTTON on your remote and where protocol shows "stop" it will change to "connecting" and in a few seconds should change to "RUN- NAGRA (0x1816)". You are now connected to the server. Hit exit on your remote and within seconds you should have TV. If not change channels.

    6. IF YOU LOSE YOUR PICTURE!! When you turn off your Ipro 2000 or reboot it the newcamd.conf file may not automatically start up when you turn your Ipro 2000 back on. If you loose your picture for any reason (rarely there may be a glitch in the connection and an error will occur) then you must restart the newcamd protocol. Simply push the f1 key to bring up the Newcamd protocol window and you will probably notice the word STOP or ERROR but even if it shows "RUN- NAGRA (0x1816)" but you still have no picture then you should hit the BLUE BUTTON to stop all and then hit the GREEN BUTTON and the protocol will restart.

Note: Once the Ipro has read your newcamd.conf file from the usb memory stick you may safely remove the usb memory stick. This enables you to use the pvr function of the Ipro2000 if you so wish.
